The SPEIT Experimental Center covers an area of approximately 785 square meters and currently houses 8 laboratories. It is equipped with over 600 instruments and devices, providing services for nearly 50 experimental courses each year.

SPEIT Laboratory Center

The SPEIT Experimental Center  introduces internationally advanced equipment and creates a comprehensive, multifunctional teaching environment. The center features flexible layouts and shared equipment and resources, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and comprehensive practical courses.

Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Laboratory
Location: Student Innovation Center, Building C, 301
The Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Laboratory was officially put into operation in February 2018, which is the result of the joint cooperation between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Ecole Supérieure des Mines de Paris Gaucho in France. The Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Laboratory has introduced several sets of innovative experimental equipment from France: a miniature wind tunnel for studying aerodynamics; a liquid film tunnel for studying the flow properties of two-dimensional fluids; a thermal convection cell for studying the phenomenon of thermal convection; and a magnetic fluid channel for studying the dynamics of magnetic fluids. The laboratory can not only meet the basic needs of foreign visiting teachers at the engineer stage for lecturing and guiding experiments for courses related to the specialty of energy and power engineering, but also be used for students' project research and so on.

Mechanical Project Laboratory
Location: Student Innovation Center, Building C, 303
The Mechanical Program Lab was completed in September 2018 and is equipped with 29 student computer stations and multiple remote workstations to serve courses related to the Mechanical Engineering program and the Energy and Power Engineering program. The lab is set up with high-performance simulation computing resources that are not constrained by time and space and are able to provide a more flexible and secure experimental environment. Providing more opportunities and tools for faculty and students to perform simulation calculations, explore and optimize design solutions, it helps to promote innovative research and engineering development.
02
Optical laboratory
Location: Student Innovation Center, Building C, 304
The Optics Laboratory is specialized in conducting optical experiments. The laboratory is equipped with optical experimental instruments such as Michelson interferometer, angle meter, lens optical system, etc. introduced from France. It can conduct experiments to verify optical phenomena such as reflection, refraction, diffraction, interference and related optical principles and laws; measure optical characteristics and properties such as wavelength, frequency, energy, refractive index, transmittance and so on through gratings, lasers and other devices; use lenses, mirrors and other equipment to study a variety of imaging systems; and set up fiber optic communication experimental system to study fiber optic transmission characteristics, light packet switching technology and so on. The laboratory not only undertakes basic optics experimental teaching, but also serves as a research center for group projects.
03
Electronics laboratory
Location: Student Innovation Center, Building C, 307

The Electronics Laboratory is one of the earliest laboratories built in the college, which was put into use in September 2013. It mainly undertakes basic teaching tasks such as physics experiments in mechanics, thermology, electricity and electromagnetism at the basic stage of the college, as well as experiments on electronic circuits. Through functional expansion, the electronics laboratory can also carry out comprehensive practical courses and innovative practical projects, etc., covering different aspects of experimental teaching and practical activities.

Mathematics and Information Laboratory
Venue: 102-105, Sino-French Experimental Building
The Math and Information Laboratory has four sub-labs, which were completed in July 2023, including Math and Information Laboratory A, Math and Information Laboratory B, Math and Information Laboratory C, and Math and Information Laboratory D. The laboratory is equipped with high-performance servers, small computing clusters, and IoT nodes, and obtains support from the Jiao Tong University Cloud Platform service, which mainly serves the college's foundation stage math and computer courses and the The laboratory is equipped with high-performance servers, small computing clusters and IoT nodes. The lab is equipped with flexible and convenient tables and chairs, mobile power supply piles, and intelligent multimedia equipment to meet the requirements of different experimental projects, facilitate group discussions and project presentations, promote collaborative exchanges among members, and increase the convenience and safety of experimental operations. In addition, by providing an online learning and research environment that is easy to use and access, it facilitates and makes possible the promotion of cross-disciplinary and collaborative research, and the cultivation of students' cooperative and innovative spirit.
