The 7th Shanghai Young University Teachers’ Teaching Competition and the qualifying round for the 8th National competition were recently held in Shanghai. The competition attracted 275 contestants from 65 universities across Shanghai to compete in seven subject categories. Ms. Kong Sijia from the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology delivered an outstanding performance and won the Second Prize in the Basic Natural Sciences category.

Associate Professor Chen Liang of SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, in collaboration with his team, successfully achieved in-situ observation of the dynamic evolution of dislocation loops under high-dose irradiation by developing a pre-irradiation plus in-situ secondary irradiation technique. This work represents the first discovery of non-edge dislocation loops in reactor pressure vessel materials. It reveals a transformation mechanism of habit planes dominated by dislocation loop splitting and columnar migration, while also elucidating the pattern of large loops consuming smaller loops through one-dimensional migration. Furthermore, the study systematically analyzes the mechanisms by which alloying elements influence the formation and growth of dislocation loops. The findings were published in the top-tier materials science journal International Journal of Plasticity under the title “In situ irradiation study of orientation and dynamics of dislocation loop defects in Fe-based alloys.”

On April 8, 2026, the 130th anniversary celebration of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was grandly held at the Huo Yingdong Sports Center on the Minhang Campus. All members of the SJTU community gathered for this grand occasion to revisit their original aspirations and embark on a new journey. Hamza BOUKILI, a young international faculty member of our institute, was invited to take the stage. Recently, CCTV News program Morning News (Zhaowen Tianxia) presented an in-depth report on new models for cultivating interdisciplinary and innovative talents in higher education. Xu Yuyan, a PhD student from the first cohort of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT), appeared on screen as a student representative, showcasing the institute’s cutting-edge exploration and remarkable achievements in nurturing top innovative talents.

In April, when flowers are in full bloom and spring is in the air, a deep sense of gratitude brings people together once again. On April 6, Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s 130th Anniversary “Alumni Homecoming Day” took place as scheduled. More than 50 alumni from the Paris Elite Institute of Technology returned to their alma mater from across the world, gathering with faculty and students to renew their shared bond and discuss the Institute’s future development.

On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and in order to further promote the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, on April 7, the “University-Enterprise Collaboration for the Cultivation of Elite Engineers; Sino-French Integration for a New Era of Education” was held at the Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The forum was hosted by the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology. More than 30 pioneers in global engineering education and innovation leaders from enterprises—representing top universities, research institutes, and key industries such as aerospace, automotive electronics, semiconductors, and intelligent manufacturing from China and France—gathered to jointly outline a new blueprint for future engineering education.
