On September 2, the commissioning ceremony for the “Luoshu” Ultra-Long-Range Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Spectrometer of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was held at the Mianyang Research Reactor in China. Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of SJTU, Huang Ming, Deputy Director of the China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP), and other officials attended the event, jointly witnessing the official commissioning of this major scientific facility.

On September 10, in the afternoon, the Paris Elite Institute of Technology held its Fall 2026 All-staff meeting. The meeting reviewed the institute's overall progress in development, laid out key priorities for the new semester, and called on all faculty, staff, and students to seize the opportunities of the "15th Five-Year Plan" opening year, to pool the strengths of Chinese-French cooperation and work together to build a world-class engineering institute.

On September 2, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two sides will jointly advance the development of the “Laboratory for Neutron-Based Conservation of Cultural Heritage” and promote the deep integration of modern technologies with cultural heritage conservation. Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of SJTU, and Pu Xin, Deputy Director of the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage, delivered remarks and jointly witnessed the signing ceremony. The agreement marks the formal establishment of an intersectoral collaboration between the university and local institutions, leveraging technological innovation to advance cultural heritage conservation. It will provide strong technological impetus for the scientific research, conservation, and preservation and transmission of major cultural heritage sites and artifacts, including Sanxingdui.

On August 25, the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) welcomed more than 100 new undergraduate students from the Class of 2026.

Recently, the national finals of the 19th National College Students Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction successfully concluded. The project “Decoupled Hydrogen Production · Multifaceted Smart Integration: Low-Energy, Low-Cost Hydrogen Production by Water Electrolysis Based on a Membrane-Free Decoupled System” from the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) won the second prize! 🎉🎉🎉

After the first week of language classes and the visits of the engineering schools, the "Paris Vibes, Global Exploration" summer program team moved on to the next phase of their study and exploration. During the last two weeks, the students took courses at Aivancity, a French AI and data science school, and at the Paris School of Luxury. They also visited UNESCO. Through specialized classes, cross-cultural teamwork, and exploring the city on foot, they continued to develop their global competence.

On July 21, Liu Weidong, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), met with Yassine Lakhnech, President of Université Grenoble Alpes, and his delegation at the Minhang Campus. Chen Cailian, Chinese Dean of SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT), and representatives from SJTU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange attended the meeting. The two sides exchanged views on expanding areas of cooperation, improving multi-level joint talent development mechanisms, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.

Recently, the final of the 11th Young Teachers Teaching Competition of Shanghai Jiao Tong University took place. Following preliminary selections organized by each school and department, 49 young teachers from 28 instituts were selected to compete in teaching proficiency. After intense competition in the final round, Professor Qiu Siqi from the Information Engineering programme at SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology won the Third Prize in the Applied Natural Sciences Group.

On July 23, 2026, in the local time, the quadrennial International Congress of Mathematicians opened in Philadelphia, United States. Chinese mathematician Wang Hong was awarded the 2026 Fields Medal, marking a historic breakthrough for mathematics in China. A review of Fields Medalist Wang Hong’s academic path brings into focus three formative years of study in France, from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, she earned an engineering degree from École Polytechnique and a master’s degree in mathematics from Paris-Sud University (now Université Paris-Saclay). École Polytechnique and Paris-Saclay University are respectively the French partner institution and in-depth collaborative partner of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Engineering.

 On July 5, SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) jointly organized an alumni exchange event with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Beijing Alumni Association. Representatives from the SJTU Beijing Alumni Association, SPEIT alumni based in Beijing, faculty members of SPEIT, and current students gathered to discuss topics including alumni resource collaboration, talent cultivation, and career development. The event strengthened alumni connections and provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on the future development of SPEIT.

Recently, the PandaX Collaboration led by Shanghai Jiao Tong University has achieved important progress in the experimental investigation of neutrino and dark matter self-interactions. Using xenon-136 double beta decay data collected by the PandaX-4T liquid xenon detector, the collaboration imposed direct experimental constraints on neutrino self-interactions mediated by light scalar particles, attaining the world’s tightest experimental limits in the mass range of 0.8–2 MeV. The relevant findings, titled Probing Scalar-Neutrino and Scalar-Dark-Matter Interactions with PandaX-4T, have been published in Physical Review Letters (PRL), a top-tier journal in physics. SJTU serves as the primary affiliation of this work.
