On April 25, the research team led by Professor Zhong Shengyi and Associate Researcher Li Yang from the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) achieved important progress in the study of high-strength and high-toughness additively manufactured aluminum alloys. The related work, entitled “Strong 3D-printed aluminium reinforced with ductile-transformable eutectic nano-skeleton,” was published in Nature Communications. Associate Researcher Li Yang and doctoral student Chen Tingting are co-first authors, while Professor Zhong Shengyi and Professor Chen Zhe are co-corresponding authors.

On the afternoon of May 13, the launching ceremony of the 2026 “City Classroom Season” and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University “China and France Sharing This Moment” Series was warmly held at the Jing’an International Reception Hall. Jointly organized by the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT), the Jing’an District Culture and Tourism Development Promotion Center, and HeartCity, the event took the city as the classroom, walking as the bond, and culture as the bridge. Nearly 40 Chinese and international teachers and students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University stepped out of the classroom and into the streets, transforming Jing’an’s revolutionary heritage, Shanghai-style charm, and international character into a “city classroom” that could be experienced, discussed, and emotionally connected with.

On April 29, the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) successfully held a seminar themed “Guided by University Teaching Supervisors: School-Level Practices – Construction and Application of Digital Teaching Resources.” The seminar aimed to promote the deep integration of digital tools into teaching and to enhance the development of digital teaching resources within the school.

On May 6, Fabrizio DUGHIERO, Dean of the school of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padua, Italy, along with Zuo Jinbao, Advisor for Education, Research, and public relations in China, visited the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology. Xiong Zhenhua, secretary of the Institute, Chen Cailian, Chinese Dean, Wei Guanghua, Coordinator for the Energy and Power Engineering program, Qi Guifang, Director of the Cooperation and Development Office, and Zhu Sinan, International Affairs Specialist, participated in the discussion. The two sides held in-depth discussions on deepening international cooperation and facilitating two-way exchanges of faculty and students.

On April 29, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Paris Elite Institute of Technology successfully held the 8th session of the Sino-French Excellence Forum themed Advanced Intelligent Design of Complex Systems. The event invited two renowned French experts in the fields of mechanical engineering, material design and structural health monitoring: Professor Joseph ZARKA and Professor David BASSIR.

On the afternoon of April 23, Yu Jianqi, Chief Architect of the National Innovation Center for High-End Smart Home Appliances (hereinafter referred to as the “National Innovation Center”), and Wu Dan, Human Resources Manager, visited the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT). Chen Cailian, Chinese Dean of the Institute, Wang Shaobo, Assistant to the Dean, Wei Guanghua, Director of the Student Innovation Center, and Cheng Junfang, tenure-track associate professor, attended the meeting. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions and reached a preliminary cooperation intention, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.

On the afternoon of April 24, the 2026 'ΣPoster' Academic Poster Day of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology was held on the first floor of the Student Center. The event was attended by Xiong Zhenhua, SPEIT’s secretary; Zied Moumni, French Dean; Lu Jialiang, Associate Dean; and Lü Jiangying, associatesecretary. The atmosphere was lively and crowded. More than thirty undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from all grade levels of the School presented their academic posters and engaged in face-to-face exchanges with the teachers and students present. The event was hosted by Xing Xiaoyu, a second-year student of the Science and Innovation Center of the Student Union.

On April 24, the 12th Annual Meeting of the Joint Conference on Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education was held in Xi’an, Shaanxi. Chen Cailian, Chinese Dean of SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech titled “Integrating Digital and Intelligent Technologies, Fostering University-Industry Collaboration, and Jointly Cultivating Outstanding Engineers.” In her presentation, she systematically shared innovative practices and cutting-edge insights regarding AI-enabled education, in-depth Sino-French cooperation, and industry-education collaboration in talent development in the context of digital transformation.

The 7th Shanghai Young University Teachers’ Teaching Competition and the qualifying round for the 8th National competition were recently held in Shanghai. The competition attracted 275 contestants from 65 universities across Shanghai to compete in seven subject categories. Ms. Kong Sijia from the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology delivered an outstanding performance and won the Second Prize in the Basic Natural Sciences category.

Associate Professor Chen Liang of SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, in collaboration with his team, successfully achieved in-situ observation of the dynamic evolution of dislocation loops under high-dose irradiation by developing a pre-irradiation plus in-situ secondary irradiation technique. This work represents the first discovery of non-edge dislocation loops in reactor pressure vessel materials. It reveals a transformation mechanism of habit planes dominated by dislocation loop splitting and columnar migration, while also elucidating the pattern of large loops consuming smaller loops through one-dimensional migration. Furthermore, the study systematically analyzes the mechanisms by which alloying elements influence the formation and growth of dislocation loops. The findings were published in the top-tier materials science journal International Journal of Plasticity under the title “In situ irradiation study of orientation and dynamics of dislocation loop defects in Fe-based alloys.”
