How to apply?
Degree programs

Thanks for choosing the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology. To apply as an international student at SPEIT, please find the eligibility requirements on the Study@SJTU.

Once admitted, you will have the opportunity to pursue your undergraduate studies and, depending on your academic performance and eligibility, potentially continue onto the Master’s program.

Note: For non-French speaking students, intensive courses in both French and Chinese will be offered to help them develop language proficiency.

 

Exchange programs

SPEIT welcomes exchange students from all over the world. As of Spring 2024, SPEIT has received 83 international exchange students.

SPEIT offers a wide variety of courses and organizes cultural activities to give you a deep experience of Chinese culture during your stay in China. If you are interested in the exchange program, please contact admission.speit@sjtu.edu.cn.

  1. Submit your application online. Apply Now.
  2. Applications will be reviewed for initial selection.
  3. Selected applicants will be invited for a two-round interview. The first round will focus on technical questions to assess applicants’ mathematical and scientific abilities. The second round will evaluate applicants’ motivation and commitment.
  4. Successful applicants will be issued an official admission letter.

This application process is open only to non-Chinese citizens who hold a foreign passport, meet the requirements outlined in the Ministry of Education’s “Document No. 12 (2020),” and possess at least a high school diploma.

1. Am I eligible to apply for SPEIT?

I am a non-Chinese citizen and a foreign passport holder, and my parent(s) is(are) Chinese citizen(s), please check the Regulations of the Chinese Ministry of Education

 

2. What is SPEIT’s language proficiency requirement?

Please submit documentation that meets at least one of the following language proficiency criteria:

  • For French: (a) a statement confirming French as your native language, or (b) TCF, TEF, DELF/DALF≥B2
  • For Chinese: (a) HSK score of 5 or higher, with a total score of 200 or above and a writing score of 60 or above, or (b) a statement confirming Chinese as your native language.
  • For English: (a) TOEFL score≥84, or (b) IELTS score≥6 What can I expect to be tested on in the first round of the interview?

We will focus on evaluating the applicant's proficiency in mathematics and science, with particular attention to the knowledge gained during high school.

3. How can I apply for the scholarships?

Outstanding applicants will have the opportunity to receive various scholarships, including the Chinese Government Scholarship, Shanghai Government Scholarship, SJTU Scholarship, and more. You can choose the scholarship(s) you wish to apply for as part of your application.

4.  When will I know the admission results?

If you meet the application deadline, you can expect to receive your final admission decision by the end of July. However, we will notify you as soon as our admissions committee reaches a decision.

5. When can I apply for the visa?

Once you receive your admission package along with the JW202 form, you can proceed with your visa application. For any questions regarding your visa, please reach out to your local Chinese embassy or  SJTU Undergraduate Admission . We will do our best to assist with your visa inquiries, though consulting visa experts is recommended.

6. When can I start to select courses?

During the orientation week, our Academic Office Coordinators will assist you in planning your course schedule.

7. Do I need to stay on campus in the resident hall or can I live off campus?

You have the option to live either on-campus or off-campus.

8. What about the campus canteens?

There are seven canteens on the Minhang campus, offering a wide variety of food options, including Muslim cuisine.
