Recently, the final of the 11th Young Teachers Teaching Competition of Shanghai Jiao Tong University took place. Following preliminary selections organized by each school and department, 49 young teachers from 28 instituts were selected to compete in teaching proficiency. After intense competition in the final round, Professor Qiu Siqi from the Information Engineering programme at SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology won the Third Prize in the Applied Natural Sciences Group.
On July 23, 2026, in the local time, the quadrennial International Congress of Mathematicians opened in Philadelphia, United States. Chinese mathematician Wang Hong was awarded the 2026 Fields Medal, marking a historic breakthrough for mathematics in China. A review of Fields Medalist Wang Hong’s academic path brings into focus three formative years of study in France, from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, she earned an engineering degree from École Polytechnique and a master’s degree in mathematics from Paris-Sud University (now Université Paris-Saclay). École Polytechnique and Paris-Saclay University are respectively the French partner institution and in-depth collaborative partner of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Engineering.

About SPEIT
To respond to the call for implementing the Plan for the Education and Development of Excellent Engineers, a project of major reform set forth in the Outline of China’s National Plan for Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development (2010-2020), and to prepare elite engineers for social development in the future, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) co-established the SJTU ParisTech Elite Institute of Technology with the French ParisTech in 2012 after obtaining approval from China’s Ministry of Education (MoE).
