The meeting coincided with the 42nd Teachers' Day. On behalf of the institute's leadership, Xiong Zhenhua first wished a happy Teachers’ Day to everyone, and expressed gratitude for their dedication and hard work. He noted that over the past semester, the entire institute worked together with great unity and achieved solid results in talent development, research innovation, faculty building, and the upgrade of facilities, with the institute maintaining a positive and progressive spirit for development.

     Zied MOUMNI extended holiday wishes to all faculty and staff. He reviewed the institute's achievements of the last semester in quality management system development, teaching reform, international cooperation, and university-industry collaboration. The institute signed framework agreements on university-industry cooperation with dozens of enterprises, marking solid progress in integrating industry and education. Turning to key objectives for the new semester, he proposed to continuously improve the internal quality management system, develop competency frameworks for each program, and make solid preparations for the mid-term evaluation of CTI accreditation. He also encouraged all faculty and staff to work together in cultivating a new generation of high-caliber engineers.

     At the meeting, Zied MOUMNI and Chen Cailian jointly introduced 11 new faculty and staff members, including full-time professors, researchers, postdoctoral researchers, French teaching assistants, and administrative personnel. The new members took the stage one by one to introduce themselves, followed by rounds of applause in a warm and lively atmosphere.

   Chen Cailian delivered a new-semester work report titled " Bringing Together Chinese and French Expertise, Setting Off on a New Journey." Aligning with the "15th Five-Year Plan" development framework and the goal of jointly building a world-class engineering institute with France, the report identified three core tasks: first, expanding the international cooperation network, deepening Chinese-French cultural exchanges, advancing preparations for the mid-term evaluation of CTI accreditation, and iteratively improving the institute's management system; second, upgrading the Excellence Engineer 2.0 training system, optimizing the layout of the Descartes Program, promoting the development of an "AI + Industrial Software" micro-major, and enhancing students' global competence; third, intensifying efforts to attract and nurture talent, developing distinctive interdisciplinary fields, building joint university-industry laboratories in the new building, and empowering the integrated development of humanities, science, and engineering through artificial intelligence. The meeting also laid out priorities including faculty development, expansion of international cooperation, two-way student exchanges, and admissions. She fully acknowledged the hard work of all faculty and staff members and encouraged everyone to seize the opening of the "15th Five-Year Plan" and work together to bring the institute's development to a new level.

     Afterwards, the institute leaders and the relevant departments, one by one, proceeded to make detailed work arrangements.

Wang Shaobo presented the teaching work for the new semester and summarized the summer admissions efforts. He reviewed past teaching achievements and proposed to use the institute's international education strengths, empowering teaching reform with artificial intelligence, deepening graduate education reform, and ensuring quality at every stage of training. He also commended the admissions teams of 2026, stating that admissions work would continue to be optimized to consolidate and improve the quality of incoming students, providing support for the institute's long-term development.

Zhong Shengyi summarized and laid out work on research and university-industry cooperation. In 2026, the institute reached new highs in both number of applications to the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) applications and funded projects, with still some room for growth in the future. She stressed the importance of AI empowerment and interdisciplinary integration, advancing international research collaboration, implementing faculty development support measures, upgrading the university-industry cooperation model, promoting the translation of research outcomes into practical applications, and building a "campus-park-city" three-zone collaborative industry-academia-research ecosystem to serve the nation's innovation and development needs.

    Xiong Zhenhua gave a briefing on key infrastructure work, including the functional layout of the new building, the phased relocation, and the renovation and upgrading of the laboratory building. He explained the improvements that the new building will bring in terms of teaching laboratories, research platforms, and public activity spaces for faculty and students as well as the coordination priorities and implementation pace of the relocation and renovation work. He called on all departments to strengthen overall coordination and collaboration, to steadily and orderly advance project implementation, and solidify the foundation for the institute's long-term development.

    Liu Jing, Director of the Student Affairs Office, reported on student work. The institute will focus on students' all-round development and the cultivation of global competence, strengthening ideological guidance, providing refined student services, and building a campus with Chinese-French characteristics. She called on all faculty and staff members to coordinate and work together to strengthen the foundation for education. Zhou Xiangyu of the Communications Office briefed the meeting on the institute's communications and publicity work, noting that the institute's new media reach and influence continued to grow. In the new semester, the office will improve its publicity mechanisms, plan key thematic content, and launch short-video co-creation initiatives to further expand the institute's influence.

     At the meeting, the institute's Labor Union prepared flowers for every faculty and staff member, expressing deep respect for their hard work and dedication and celebrating Teachers' Day.

     The meeting clarified the institute's direction for the new semester and set out key tasks across all areas. It further unified the faculty and staff around a shared vision and built consensus. The meeting stressed that the institute now stands at an important juncture, marked by the launch of the "15th Five-Year Plan" and the imminent commissioning of the new building. All faculty and staff member must firmly uphold the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. They should fully leverage the unique strengths of Chinese-French cooperative education and focus their efforts on talent recruitment and development, teaching reform, research innovation, and international exchange. Together, they should work to overcome development bottlenecks and continuously improve the quality of talent cultivation and the institute's core competitiveness.
