Early on the morning of the 25th, everything was ready at the welcome event. Themed displays, photo spots, welcome gift packs, and enthusiastic senior-student volunteers were all in place.

Starting at 8:00 a.m., new students arrived one after another and, with on-site guidance, completed registration procedures including check-in and information verification.

The new students took photos with their families at the photo spots, capturing precious moments from their first day at SJTU.

After registration, the new students received welcome gift packs, including a plush toy of SPEIT’s mascot “Linglong,” an Institute T-shirt, stickers, specialty little clips, a finely crafted SJTU badge, and a canvas bag designed by the Student Union... Each small gift conveyed SPEIT’s heartfelt welcome and best wishes.

The senior students also prepared an engaging interactive activity for the newcomers—the “Bonjour, Just for You” Blind Box. Each new student randomly drew a colored ball and received a postcard corresponding to one of four themes: French music, French architecture, French art, and French literature. Every postcard carried a message of encouragement and good wishes from the senior students.

      Behind the smooth running of the welcome event was a dedicated team of volunteers.

They were responsible for preparing materials, setting up the venue in advance, guiding new students through the registration process, distributing gift packs, taking photos and videos, and conducting interviews on the day. They arrived early, stayed at their posts throughout the event, and welcomed every new student with patience and enthusiasm.
