This morning (April 29), General Secretary Xi Jinping came to Shanghai's “Mosu Space”, a large model innovation ecological community in Xuhui District, during his visit to Shanghai.

Hamza BOUKILI, a mathematics teacher at the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT), was the only foreign face at the event. “I am very happy and honored to be able to take part in this event,” said Hamza BOUKILI, a mathematics teacher at SPEIT. Hamza BOUKILI and others exchanged ideas with Xi Jinping and his company, who came here to investigate the modeling innovation eco-community in Shanghai.

On April 24, 2025, SJTU Paris Elite Institute of technology hosted an academic lecture titled "Energy and Society: Identifying the Limits?" delivered by Professor François CAUNEAU from Mines Paris and invited professor of SPEIT. The lecture delved into the history, current status, and future challenges of energy development, attracting participation from faculty members across various departments of SPEIT, including the School of Electrical Engineering and the School of Smart Energy, as well as visiting professors from MINES Paris and TELECOM Paris. Attendees included teachers and students from diverse professional fields such as energy, electronic information, mechanical engineering, Mathematics and Physics, cultural, linguistics, etc.

On April 23, 2025, the sixth Sino-French Cultural Festival “La Palette” was successfully held in. This year's festival presented a wonderful and unique Chinese and French cultural feast, attracting more than 2,000 people to participate enthusiastically.

Bi Yue, the first dual PhD of SJTU and IP Paris, has completed his doctoral research project under the joint supervision of Prof. Wu Yue from SJTU, Prof. Philippe CIBLAT and Prof. Michèle WIGGER from ESTP and successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on 10th of March 2025, and will soon be awarded the two schools' dual Doctoral Degree.

At the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, there is a group that gathers many enthusiastic top students – the Top Student Group! On the afternoon of December 11, the " 'By the Water's Edge' Shanghai University Tour" event was successfully held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The event was hosted by the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and organized by the SPEIT. Deputy Director of the Party Committee's Publicity Department Pan Haozhi, French Dean of the SPEIT Zied MOUMNI, Deputy Secretary Yao Xue, and Chief Editor of The Paper's Research Institute Li Lin attended the event. The activity attracted nearly 80 Chinese and international teachers and students to appreciate the unique humanistic stories on both banks of the Suzhou River and the Seine.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the 4th floor of Building 12, Ruijin Hospital, Dr. Liu Zhihong, who had just finished his outpatient service, was invited to participate in our "Excellence · France" interview, where he shared his growth journey, experiences studying in France, and medical practice after returning to China. This interview highlighted his profound insights into international exchange and medical research practice.

In order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, to further stimulate the vitality of humanistic exchanges and to inject a new spirit of the times into the exchanges and cooperation in the field of education between the two countries, the ‘Sino-French International Forum on Engineering Education in the Age of Intelligence’ hosted by Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) was held at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC) in Beijing on November 1, and Prof. Zied MOUMNI, the French Dean of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) was invited to attend and give a keynote speech. On the evening of September 14, CCTV's "Oriental Horizon" aired a special report titled "New Productive Forces in China—Future Laboratories," revealing cutting-edge large scientific instruments. The report prominently featured the ultra-long multi-mode neutron small-angle scattering spectrometer, "Luoshu," developed collaboratively by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Mianyang Neutron Science Platform. The project is led by Professor Zhong Shengyi, the Deputy Dean of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology.

Students from high schools and universities around China gathered at Shanghai Jiao Tong University over the weekend to show off their French language skills in the second "Cup of Excellence" speech contest.

Recently, visiting professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Hubert Kempf, published a commentary titled "Beijing, Brussels must uphold multilateralism" in China Daily. Hubert Kempf is an Emeritus Professor at Paris-Saclay University and a research associate at the French Observatory of Economy and Environment. During the fall semester of 2023-2024, he taught the course "Introduction to European Economics" at our school.
