On the afternoon of March 30th, in the most beautiful season of SJTU, the 2024 SPEIT Graduate Graduation Ceremony and Engineer Title Conferment Ceremony was held in the Lecture Hall of Li Zhengdao Library.

The theme of this graduation ceremony is “Remembering - Starting”, which is the harmonic of “17” and “together”, implying that the graduates of the class of 2024 were enrolled in 2017, and at the same time symbolizing the memory of the past and the beginning of a new journey. Starting a new journey. The ceremony was divided into three chapters: “Beginning - Excellence”, “Harvest - Gratitude” and “Dream - Sailing”.

In the first chapter, Vice President Liu Weidong first delivered a speech on behalf of the school. He congratulated all the graduates, their families and friends, and thanked the entrepreneurs who supported the school and the hard-working faculty and staff. He said that the graduates of the Class of 2024 have demonstrated outstanding qualities, and after a wonderful and extraordinary journey of 6.5 years, they will join different positions in the frontier field of artificial intelligence, overseas trade departments of state and central enterprises, governmental organizations, and foreign enterprises, contributing to the wisdom and strength of the students of SJTU China and France. He hoped that the graduates would always keep their sense of family and country, continue to follow the example of their predecessors who stayed in France to work and study, set up ambitious aspirations, and play the role of China-France friendship messenger. Responding to the new wave of technological revolution, they will pursue lifelong learning and excellence. Zhang Wenming highly praised the outstanding performance of the graduates of the Class of 2024, and sent his message to the outstanding engineers of the Class of 2024 that they should be determined to pursue the truth, promote scientific and technological innovation, and make key and disruptive technological breakthroughs in the fields of new energy, new materials, and artificial intelligence in the future. Keeping in mind that “choosing Jiaotong University is choosing responsibility”, they should have the pattern of embracing the whole world, face the future, establish win-win thinking, gather the power of cooperation, and join hands with the world to create a brilliant future.

Frédéric Toumazet said he is honored by the hustle and talent that the graduates have demonstrated over the past 6.5 years, and that today marks the end of one chapter in life and the beginning of a new adventure. In today's rapidly changing world, he is confident that the innovative and visionary Engineer Excellence Class of 2024 will be the drivers of progress, architects of change and guardians of innovation in the world of tomorrow.

Liu Nan delivered a speech on behalf of Schneider Electric. She mentioned that she graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University twenty years ago, then went to France to study for an engineer's degree and joined Schneider Electric after graduation. Schneider Electric has always emphasized on industry-university-research cooperation and empowering young people, and has initiated and supported a number of university innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, skills competitions and other activities. In the year of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, she will continue to contribute to the profound friendship and cooperation between China and France with the students and alumni of SPEIT at SJTU.

Prof. Liu Weidong, Prof. Kong Lingti, Prof. Zhang Wenming, Prof. Du Boze, Prof. Chen Cailian, Prof. Ziad MOUMNI, and Prof. Arnaud Delbarre awarded the graduates with SJTU master's degree certificates, degree certificates, and certificates of the engineer rank, and took a group photo together.

Zhang Leying, secretary of the student party branch, spoke as the representative of outstanding graduates. She fondly recalled the 6.5 years she spent in SPEIT, and mentioned that this period of time had enabled her to gain the friendship of a lifetime companion, the will quality of pursuing excellence, and to find the goal of her passionate struggle. Now that the students are about to embark on their respective jobs and start a new journey in life, she firmly believes that the unforgettable memories of the student years will continue throughout the students' life journey, inspiring them to think independently, face up to pressures, and become pillars in their respective fields. The deep friendships and emotional ties established on campus will be an important support in their future work and life.

The outstanding graduates of the class of 2024, Hu Dongqian and Li Jiawei, led all the graduates to take the oath.

Gu Xiyao presented letters of appointment to three Class of 2024 trustees, Li Yuhan, Luo Mukun, and Hu Dongqian.

Mr. Lu Jialiang and Ms. Zhong Shengyi presented the appointment letter and the College mascot “Linglong” to the first batch of alumni mentors of the College, namely Mr. Gao Kaiqi, Mr. Gong Zheng, Mr. Yu Haobo, Mr. Dong Tian, and Mr. Jin Zicheng. (Another five mentors were unable to attend the ceremony due to time constraints: Zheng Huangjie, Dai Zexin, Zhu Ye, Yang Jian, and Inclusion Zhou.)

It then proceeded to a session where representatives of the graduates exchanged souvenirs with the college and parents.

The college presented all the graduates with college culture shirts, Memory-Quick commemorative book and commemorative video. Chen Cailian said that the graduates of the Class of 2024 are the most beautiful scenery on the campus of Jiaotong University today, and asked the graduates to bring the glory of their alma mater, the teachings of their teachers and the expectations of their relatives, to overcome the difficulties and move forward bravely. I hope that after a number of years, the graduates will be able to fulfill themselves, serve the country, and influence the world, and when we meet again in the future, may the graduates never forget their original intention and return to the world as a young man.

Parents presented the graduates with a commemorative plate of Shanghai Jiaotong University printed with the students' names and mugs printed with the Institute's logo. Mr. Wang Zhaoqing, the parent representative, said that SPEIT has sent a group of outstanding young people to the society today. Seven years ago, parents sent their children to SJTU, which has a profound culture, a strong learning atmosphere and a beautiful campus environment, which is an important and the most correct thing in their life. On behalf of all the parents, he thanked the College for its training and congratulated the children for starting a new chapter in their lives!

The graduates presented the College with a jigsaw puzzle of the College building, symbolizing that the graduates are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, and that even though they will be going to different parts of the world, the College is their home forever.

The third chapter consisted of a series of warm reminiscence videos and exciting programs, in which the multi-talented CELS students took the stage to show their talents and send their best wishes to the graduates who are about to sail away. This chapter was hosted by graduates Fu Jia and Wang Fusang.
