To further gather collective wisdom and promote the internal development of the school, the Université Jiao Tong de Shanghai SPEIT (Sino-French Institute) recently established the Quality Improvement Committee. This advisory committee is co-chaired by the Chinese and French deans, with members nominated by the chairs and approved by the Joint Management Committee. The first chairs of the SPEIT Quality Improvement Committee are Chinese Dean Zhang Wenming and French Dean Frédéric Toumazet, with 15 representatives from faculty, students, alumni, and partner enterprises forming the committee.
On the morning of April 29, Université Jiao Tong de Shanghai SPEIT held the first meeting of the 2024 Quality Improvement Committee. This inaugural meeting discussed the committee's responsibilities and school-enterprise cooperation.
At the meeting, Duboze first introduced the origin and functions of the Quality Improvement Committee and reviewed the achievements of the school in recent years, including the steady increase in enrollment, the growing faculty, the gradual improvement of the talent training system, the recognition of graduates by enterprises, and the diverse modes of school-enterprise cooperation. He also pointed out the need to further strengthen joint school-enterprise training and promote in-depth development of industry-academia-research collaboration.
During the discussion, the participating members emphasized the importance of driving school-enterprise cooperation and proposed enhancing the training of innovative talents. They hope enterprises will present frontier development issues of the industry, allowing students to solve these problems under the guidance of school tutors, thereby truly achieving a closed loop of industry-academia-research collaboration. Additionally, the meeting saw lively discussions on internships and employment issues, which are closely watched by both enterprises and students. The committee aims to delve deeper into career development, corporate culture, industry prospects, job stability, salary, personal interests, and values.
Finally, the responsibilities of the committee were reaffirmed, stating that the mission of the Quality Improvement Committee is to ensure that the school's courses and teaching plans follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Education of China and the French Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur, meeting student needs and enterprise expectations. The committee will actively participate in the formulation and implementation of the school's development plans, contributing to the long-term development of the school through diverse perspectives and rich experience.
The meeting concluded in a warm atmosphere.
