Recently, SPEIT at Shanghai Jiao Tong University welcomed a special group of guests: a student delegation from École Polytechnique de Paris. During their four-day visit, these students deeply experienced Chinese culture and engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges with the faculty and students of the school.
The school meticulously planned a series of cultural and exchange activities. Accompanied by enthusiastic SPEIT students, the visiting students began their first tour of Shanghai. Guided by student volunteers, they explored historic sites such as the Yu Garden, learning about the cultural background and history of these locations. Chinese and French students actively exchanged learning experiences and taught each other daily Chinese vocabulary, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship.

In addition to cultural tours, the school arranged a series of academic exchange activities. The French student delegation visited Zhangjiang Robotics Valley and Dassault Group, where they personally experienced the application prospects of robotics in industrial and medical fields, gaining insights into China's technological capabilities and cutting-edge technologies. They had in-depth discussions with company representatives, gaining a comprehensive understanding of China's economic development and technological innovation, which sparked their strong interest in future employment in Shanghai.
At the Minhang campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the French delegation members were introduced to SPEIT's educational features, faculty strength, and curriculum, expressing great enthusiasm for future exchange opportunities. Following this, Chinese students and the French delegation teamed up to participate in a dragon boat friendship race held by the university to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations. On the dragon boats, they paddled vigorously and cooperatively, showcasing the unique charm of this traditional Chinese sport. Finally, the delegation experienced Chinese calligraphy and traditional lion dancing, further deepening their understanding of intangible cultural heritage.
This visit provided the French students with a valuable opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and educational development, while injecting new vitality into the friendly exchanges between China and France. As the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations and the French Olympic year approach, exchanges and cooperation in sports, culture, and education between the two countries will become even closer.
In the future, SPEIT will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with international students. The school actively optimizes and improves relevant policies, providing a platform for students from diverse cultural backgrounds to learn and grow together. It promotes the internationalization of education, cultivating more outstanding engineers with a global vision and innovative spirit.
