The times call for innovation, and humanities illuminate science
As a teenager who aspires to engineering, I have always had this question before the summer vacation: in this new era, what qualities can make people go far and well on the road of scientific innovation in the new era. This question was not slowly solved until I walked into the Xuesen Challenge Camp......
First of all, doing a good job in scientific innovation requires us to look at the world and forge ahead. The "Mathematical and Physical Comprehensive Practice Challenge Camp" where I was a student not only popularized a lot of theoretical knowledge for us, but also introduced us to the major international aircraft manufacturers, which broadened our horizons from multiple perspectives. In the subsequent water rocket making competition, I felt that walking on "one foot" is not feasible, and only by grasping both theory and practice, domestic and foreign, can I make an individual reach the realm of practical application.
Second, to do a good job in scientific innovation, we must have a humanistic spirit that complements it. A century-old Jiaotong University with a profound heritage. During the five-day trip, whether it was a visit to the University History Museum or a tour near the Huangpu campus, we experienced the Chinese culture in the blood of Jiaotong University. This kind of holistic education will give our students a long-term motivation for innovation and scientific exploration
Jung said, "The only purpose of human existence is to light a lamp in the darkness of pure freedom." "There is no end to the scientific exploration of a person's life, so how can we not get lost in this darkness? I think that the concept of holistic education that I experienced in this challenge camp is a beacon and an answer.

A journey of transformation in the Challenge Camp
Hello everyone, I am Huang Jingsong, and I am extremely honored to be awarded the title of outstanding camper of this Xuesen Challenge Camp. This journey is full of unexpected surprises and touches. Here, I have the privilege to meet my best friends from all over the world, from the shyness of the first acquaintance to the later acquaintance and cherishment, we have broadened our horizons and deeply reflected on our own shortcomings in the academic fertile soil of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Looking back on the apprehension when I first joined the camp, and then to the exploration in the face of many challenges, every step has witnessed my growth. But it was these moments that made me realize the extraordinary power of teamwork. We work hand in hand for a common goal, and each other's support and encouragement have turned into motivation on the way forward.
During the days and nights of the camp, I not only learned how to think independently, but also how to actively seek advice from others with a humble heart. Especially when faced with a complex project such as the water rocket project, I am deeply aware that collective wisdom can make us go further and more steadily on the journey of exploration.
This trip to Xuesen Challenge Camp has left a strong mark on my study career, which not only allowed me to gain valuable and sincere friendships, but also sowed the seeds of perseverance in my heart. I am convinced that this extraordinary experience, like the brightest star in the night sky, will always illuminate my future path forward, leading me to constantly discover a better version of myself and move forward bravely.

In the energetic and challenging journey of the "Xuesen Project", I embarked on an unusual learning journey, my goal is not only to enjoy the leisure of summer, but also to try to master new knowledge of mathematics and physics, and skillfully apply these abstract theories to real life. This experience, like a feast of knowledge, has given me a lot of gains.
On the second day of the course, when I realized the importance of Python for the theoretical analysis of water rockets, I made a plan to use the evening to learn a skill that is essential for my future learning - Python programming through the video platform. I know that the in-depth study of mathematics and physics is inseparable from the assistance of computer programming, and Python is the bridge between theory and practice.
In the dead of night, I sat alone at my desk in my dorm room, the computer screen emitting a soft glow that illuminated my focused face. The easy-to-understand tutorials on Bilibili have become my best teachers. From basic syntax rules to complex function applications, I gnawed on this "hard bone" step by step. When I encounter a problem that I don't understand, I will pause the video, think about it repeatedly, and even try it until it suddenly dawns on me. Sometimes, I stay up late into the night to solve a puzzle, but the joy of solving the puzzle is enough to dispel all the fatigue.
Through unremitting efforts, I gradually mastered the basic operations of Python and began to try to integrate the knowledge of mathematics and physics. I write programs to calculate complex physical formulas, simulate the process of physical experiments, and even use the data processing power of Python to perform in-depth analysis of experimental data. This process of applying theory to practice has given me a deeper understanding of mathematics and physics, and has also opened my eyes to the infinite possibilities of programming.
Time has passed, but this self-taught Python experience has become a valuable asset in my life. Not only did it equip me with a new skill, but more importantly, it taught me how to learn on my own, how to face challenges, and how to combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. I believe that in the days to come, this experience will be a source of motivation and confidence for me to move forward, wherever I go.

After the summer of June, we came to Zhuxia in July with expectations.
At the beginning of the activity, we toured the campus of SJO and learned about the history of SJT. It belongs to a century-old famous school, and the academic style of high and strict is blowing in the face. In the days that followed, we learned about esoteric but fascinating physics in physics class; In the mathematics class and the bionic class, I practiced the writing and running of code; In the interesting French class, I learned simple and practical words, and met the long history and romantic feelings of France.
At the same time, a team composed of four or five students also raced against time to promote the process of "launching small rockets" in the interval of the trip. From conception to practice, from the death of the initial idea to the development of new ideas, from being at a loss to improvising, in the end, each team handed in a surprising answer.
On the evening of July 20, in the classroom of East Intermediate Courtyard 1-109, there was a beautiful atmosphere. In the process of awarding the medals to the professor, warm praises and messages came into my ears one after another, and I suddenly realized that the five-day period was coming to an end. Looking back, many feelings are intertwined and converged into one sentence - the campus is graceful and colorful,
When we first met, we entered the campus with longing and admiration for the institution of higher learning, and we felt that it was vast, beautiful and elegant. When we are also like the students who have turned in, with similar academic goals in mind, hurriedly shuttling between classrooms, canteens, and libraries, and at night, with the lights of the study hall, experimenting in the night, we faintly feel the busyness and fulfillment of pursuing academic ideals; At this moment, the story of this summer has come to an end for the time being, and happiness, satisfaction, and reluctance converge to form a fresh mark left in our youth.
Looking forward to the future, we look forward to more outstanding students who are interested in promoting the strategy of China's engineering power to join the family of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Paris Excellence Engineering Institute, jointly explore the frontier of science and technology, and contribute to the prosperity and development of the country!
