From October 14th to 18th, Zhang Wenming, the Chinese Dean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, led a delegation to France to visit top French universities and high schools for international recruitment. Zheng Cheng, Deputy Director of the Admissions Office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Lu Jialiang, Vice Dean of the College, participated in the visit, along with Sun Chenye, Assistant Dean and Director of the Administrative Office, Ouyang Fei, the College's teacher stationed in France, and Zhu Sinan, Internationalization Officer.
On October 14th, the delegation was invited to give a presentation at the prestigious Lycée Louis-Le-Grand (LLG) in France. This high school, located in the heart of the Latin Quarter in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, is known for its excellent teaching quality and outstanding student body, with a large number of preparatory class students admitted to top French universities each year.
The delegation met with Ms. Stéphanie VINEL, Deputy Principal of LLG, and Mr. Fouad LAHMIDANI, Head of International Exchanges. Dean Zhang Wenming expressed his honor to exchange and cooperate with top French high schools, and SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology plans to send teachers from the basic stage to LLG for learning, while also welcoming LLG to send excellent teachers to the college for exchange to promote mutual experience sharing. Zheng Cheng, Deputy Director of the Admissions Office, proposed that Shanghai Jiao Tong University looks forward to establishing a close cooperative relationship with top high schools like LLG to jointly cultivate more young talents with a global perspective.
The delegation visited the Chinese class at LLG, where Vice Dean Lu Jialiang and Officer Zhu Sinan gave presentations. The students in the Chinese class all have a certain foundation in Chinese and are eager to learn about China, with many expressing interests in China, Shanghai, and the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology.
On October 15th, the delegation attended the X-Forum hosted by École Polytechnique. This forum attracts top universities and research institutions from around the world each year, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Carnegie Mellon University, the Australian National University, and renowned Chinese universities like Peking University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, providing students with a platform to interact with top international universities.
At the X-Forum, the delegation exchanged ideas with students from École Polytechnique and promoted Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology. It is understood that about 70% of students pursuing engineering degrees at École Polytechnique choose to go abroad to schools or laboratories in their final year. Currently, more and more students prefer to study in China. Many students interested in China expressed interest in Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
On October 16th, Zhu Sinan and Ouyang Fei went to the private high school Ecole Alsacienne for a presentation. Ecole Alsacienne is located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, an accredited private school that provides education from kindergarten to high school, with a total of 1850 students. Ecole Alsacienne is one of the first schools in France to offer Chinese courses, providing comprehensive Chinese education from preschool Chinese enlightenment to high school Oriental language courses. Zhu Sinan and Ouyang Fei gave a presentation to the senior high school Chinese class students at the school. The students actively asked questions, showing a strong interest in studying at Shanghai Jiao Tong University's SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology.
This series of international recruitment activities went deep into top French universities and high schools, reaching out to the French youth group with a Chinese foundation and interest in Chinese culture, effectively enhancing the overseas influence and visibility of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, and laying a solid foundation for the future international student admissions of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the institute.
