Through the eyes of outstanding engineers, we transcend the barriers of time and space to delicately depict the common pursuit of human wisdom.
The picture is made up of two walls and the sky outside the window, and on the wall hang six square frames, each of which is a microcosm of an era, the story of an engineer.
The entire work was hand-drawn by the team using Procreate, and the three-dimensional composition was created using Mental Canvas software, which was meticulously recorded and edited to present the final result.
In the six frames, the images of six engineers, with different skin tones, nationalities, and genders, have crossed different eras and devoted themselves to engineering research in their respective fields.
They are either focused on working on drawings, exploring scientific and technological achievements, or conducting experiments in the laboratory.
In the background of each painting, we have also carefully selected the most symbolic elements of each engineer and integrated them into the multi-layered composition, giving the work a vivid sense of three-dimensionality and profound connotation.
Outside the frame, a Speiter quietly admires the painting. With the dream of becoming a brilliant engineer, she may be drawing inspiration from her work to imagine the future.
As the gaze shifts, we see an open window:
We see the sky outside the window, and the alternation of day and night not only symbolizes the flow of time, but also reflects the continuous promotion of the engineering cause; We see the silhouettes of landmarks of famous buildings from all over the world floating in the sky, they coexist under the same sky, symbolizing that engineers from different regions and cultures are living in the same world and working together to create a better future.
Recently, the "Sino-French Environment Month" event and the 2nd Engineering Culture Design Competition of SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology were grandly held in the 205 lecture hall of the Sino-French Building, with this year's theme being "Under the Same Sky / Tous sous le même ciel". A total of 81 undergraduate students from the class of 2022 participated in the competition, creating and showcasing 17 extraordinary short videos and poster works in groups.
Consul for Science and Technology at the French Consulate in Shanghai, Rachid MALTI, Attaché Salomé ANTOINE, French Dean of SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, Professor Zied MOUMNI, Associate Professor Aline CHEVALIER from the Department of Social Behavioral Sciences at the University of Amsterdam, Deputy Researcher and Dean's Assistant Zhang Lihui, and Mathematics Teacher Hamza BOUKILI attended and served as judges. The event was hosted by Zhang Lihui.

Franco-Chinese Environment Month
Sino-French Environment Month
The Sino-French Environment Month was established by the French Embassy in China in 2014. Each year, it promotes exchanges between China and France on environmental themes through conferences, film screenings, seminars, and artistic performances, raising public awareness of the consequences of climate change and the importance of environmental protection.

Consul Rachid MALTI delivered the opening speech. He expressed his honor to participate in the Engineering Culture Design Competition and thanked French Dean Zied MOUMNI for the invitation. He mentioned that the four French engineering schools cooperating with SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology are renowned worldwide and sincerely hopes that all students will go to France for exchange and learning, to experience French engineering education and gain nourishment. He also hopes that students will learn a new language and feel and understand another culture. He added that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, which is an extremely important year for both countries, and sincerely wishes for the everlasting friendship between China and France.

Subsequently, under the direction of Deputy Researcher Zhang Lihui, the 17 groups presented their works and defended them in turn. The judges comprehensively evaluated the works from four aspects: artistry, innovation, presentation effect, and teamwork. After fierce competition, one first prize group, three second prize groups, seven third prize groups, and six winning groups were selected.

The students, as future engineers, expressed their concern and thoughts about environmental issues through artistic creation. During the defense, they demonstrated excellent foreign language expression and critical thinking skills. The Engineering Culture Design Competition is an important part of the college's engineering culture course, which was launched in 2023. It aims to help future engineers appreciate the aesthetics in engineering and natural sciences through artistic creation, while integrating green and sustainable development concepts, fostering a sense of social responsibility among engineers, and helping outstanding engineers move towards the future and the world!
