SJTU Holds a Press Conference on ‘Luoshu’ Project Leaded by ZHONG Shengyi

11.12/2024 615

After the first cold neutron high-resolution engineering stress spectrometer ‘Hetu’ passed the acceptance and official operation in early 2022, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) held a press conference today to announce that the second ultra-long multi-mode neutron small-angle scattering spectrometer ‘Luoshu’ (洛书) has passed the technical acceptance on Oct. 28, 2024. It is also independently designed and developed by SJTU. The project is led by Zhong Shengyi, a dual-appointed professor at the SPEIT and the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Paris, and deputy director of the National Key Laboratory of Neutron Science and Technology, who is the Chief Scientist and the construction manager of the project.

The new generation of neutron spectrometer ‘Luoshu’ is the first in the world in terms of range, instantaneous range, spectrometer length and other key indicators. The advancement of this major scientific research project marks another major breakthrough in the field of high-end neutron scientific instruments in China, which will vigorously promote the application of neutron technology in the fields of aerospace, nuclear power and energy, chemical and chemical industry, biomedicine, high-speed railway and shipbuilding, as well as basic research, and help breakthroughs in the bottlenecks of engineering and technology, and explore the frontiers of frontier science.
