On November 6th, the 2024 Fall Laboratory Safety Education Series of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology was held at the Sino-French Building. Professor Chen Cailian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Suo Pin, Chief of the Fire Department of the University Security Office, teachers from the foundational stage, staff from the Academic Affairs Office and the Experimental Center, as well as students participated.

Laboratory Safety Education Training
Secretary Chen Cailian delivered the opening speech on safety education. She emphasized the importance of laboratory safety, reminding students to always be vigilant about safety, strictly adhere to laboratory management regulations and operating procedures, operate dangerous machinery scientifically, handle hazardous chemicals and dangerous goods scientifically, actively identify safety hazards, conduct risk assessments and personal protection, and prevent the occurrence of laboratory safety incidents.
Gao Xiaonan, Deputy Director of the College's Experimental Center, introduced relevant documents on laboratory safety management issued by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the past two years, explained the identification of hazardous sources, safety risk assessment of experimental projects, and safety precautions in the laboratory. She also shared typical safety accident cases and lessons learned, which raised the awareness of the teachers and students present.

Fire Safety Training and Drill
Subsequently, Chief Suo Pin shared real campus fire cases from various aspects such as the causes of fires, conditions for their occurrence, use of fire extinguishing facilities, and escape precautions, reminding teachers and students to use electricity properly and avoid fire hazard factors to prevent accidents.
After the training, Chief Suo Pin led the fire department teachers to simulate a fire scene, guiding teachers and students in the use of fire extinguishers and learning skills for extinguishing initial fires. Teachers and students from China and abroad, as well as property management personnel, personally operated the equipment, enhancing their fire extinguishing capabilities and awareness through practical exercises.
As it is "Fire Safety Promotion Month," the purpose of this safety education training and practical drill is to enhance the safety awareness and protective abilities of the college's teachers and students, and to strengthen the safety line. The SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology will continue to strengthen laboratory safety management and education, create a strong laboratory safety culture, and safeguard the life safety of teachers and students!
