On the afternoon of November 25, 2024, the 24th Joint Management Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) was held in a hybrid format, combining online and offline participation. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Joint Management Committee and President, Ding Kuiling, Executive Vice President Xi Lifeng, Vice President Liu Weidong, Vice Chairman of the Joint Management Committee and President of ENSTA Paris, Elisabeth CREPON, President of Institut Polytechnique, Thierry COULHON, Vice Président Christopher CRIPPS, Director of the Academic Affairs Office ]of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhang Junliang, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Guo Liang, Chinese Dean of SPEIT, Zhang Wenming, French Dean Zied MOUMNI, Party Secretary Chen Cailian, Vice-dean Lu Jialiang, Deputy Secretary Yao Xue, Vice-dean Zhong Shengyi, and Dean's Assistant Sun Chenye. Also in attendance were Rémi PAUL, Chief Representative and CEO of Safran Group in China, Gu Jianmin, Chief Technology Officer of Valeo Group, and Rachid MALTI, Science Consul at the French Consulate General in Shanghai, who was invited to attend. The meeting was co-chaired by Vice President Liu Weidong and President CREPON.
丁奎岭校长致开幕辞。他表示,2024年是中法建交60周年,也是上海交大与法国工程师学校合作办学的第12年,巴黎卓越工程师学院以高层次的教育合作与多元的文化活动,进一步促进了中法两国教育与文化交流,成为国内中法教育合作的典范。他对海内外学生对中法教育合作日益浓厚的兴趣感到欣喜,并期待两国高校的友好合作结出更多成果,为中法及全球的教育文化交流作出更大贡献。
President Ding Kuiling delivered the opening remarks. He stated that 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the 12th year of cooperation between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and French engineering schools. SPEIT has further promoted educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries through high-level educational cooperation and diverse cultural activities, becoming a model of Sino-French educational cooperation in China. He expressed delight at the growing interest of students from home and abroad in Sino-French educational cooperation and looked forward to more fruitful outcomes from the friendly cooperation between the two countries' universities, contributing more to educational and cultural exchanges globally.
President CREPON expressed her joy and pride in the continuous prosperity and development of Sino-French cooperation. SPEIT has achieved fruitful educational outcomes, successfully passing the 5-year accreditation by the French Engineering Title Commission (CTI) in September this year. This achievement is a high recognition of the school's educational quality and signifies another solid step in the cultivation of elite engineers.
The meeting appointed and welcomed the new French Dean, Zied MOUMNI. Dean MOUMNI outlined his ideas and measures in promoting educational reform, Sino-French cooperation, internal governance, and recruitment.
The meeting reviewed the work of SPEIT for the year 2024. Deans Zhang Wenming and Zied MOUMNI, Party Secretary Chen Cailian, Deputy Dean Lu Jialiang, and Deputy Secretary Yao Xue reported on the breakthroughs made by the institute in recruitment, personnel, CTI accreditation, and internationalization over the past year, as well as the execution of the 2024 budget, plans for educational reform, strategic plans for alumni work, and the strategic direction for 2025.
The meeting highly affirmed the fruitful results achieved by the institute over the past year and conducted in-depth discussions on core issues such as recruitment, educational reform, faculty recruitment, industry-academia cooperation, and alumni development. Both sides agreed that the institute is thriving, with the number of domestic and international recruits reaching new highs, and its domestic appeal and international influence significantly strengthened. Both sides expressed their commitment to reforming and optimizing the curriculum system under the "Artificial Intelligence (AI) + Human Intelligence (HI)" context, enhancing the practicality of courses; vigorously strengthening the introduction of high-level talents, consolidating the institute's talent base, and aiding its transformation and development; gradually expanding the scale of education, promoting industry-academia cooperation, and strengthening the alumni network to further enhance the institute's global influence. The meeting finally determined that the next Joint Management Committee meeting will be held in Shanghai in June 2025.
