Setting Sail for a New Chapter | Dual-Degree Pre-Departure Exchange Meeting Held Successfully

01.19/2025 13

On January 14, 2025, the SPEIT successfully hosted a pre-departure exchange meeting for dual-degree students. This meeting was aimed at undergraduate students from the Class of 2021 and 2022 who are planning to pursue dual degrees in France in 2025. It was designed to provide comprehensive and thoughtful support and preparation for students about to embark on their academic journey in France.

Zhang Yan from the Office of Cooperation and Development first introduced the selection situation of this year's dual-degree students. Subsequently, Wang Xiaochen and Yang Yan from the Academic Affairs Office detailed the academic arrangements for dual-degree students at the university, including guidance on undergraduate thesis, review of graduation qualifications, final review standards for recommended exemptions, and various procedures for the graduate phase as well as matters related to returning to the university after studying abroad.

Next, Lü Jiangying, the director of the Student Affairs Office, conducted a series of safety education and cultural adaptation guidance sessions. These covered everything from basic safety knowledge when traveling abroad to strategies for dealing with emergencies, from respecting diverse cultures to tips for quickly integrating into new environments. The goal was to help students protect themselves while abroad and embrace the world with an open mind.

In addition, the exchange meeting invited two outstanding senior students—Yang Xinyuan, a master's student from the Class of 2023, and Zou Zhiying, a master's student from the Class of 2024—to share their experiences. Yang Xinyuan spoke about methods for adapting to overseas study and life, while Zou Zhiying focused on her internship experience at an international organization. These real-life stories not only inspired students' boundless longing for overseas life but also provided practical wisdom for facing challenges and seizing opportunities.

This pre-departure meeting laid the foundation for students to smoothly start their overseas lives. With the spring breeze blowing and a new beginning in sight, may each student embark on this new journey with full confidence and exceptional talent, showcasing the spirit of Chinese youth on the international stage, achieving academic success, and making personal leaps. They will bring honor to their motherland and write brilliant chapters in their lives.
