At the beginning of the new semester, the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) welcomed more than ten exchange students from French universities. To help them integrate into the campus more quickly and adapt to the new learning and living environment, the college planned and organized the Orientation Day event, providing them with necessary information and guidance, and promoting cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign students.

At the opening ceremony of the event, the French Dean, Zied Moumni, warmly welcomed the new international students on behalf of the college. He pointed out that the college will not only provide strong academic support but also create a diverse and inclusive cultural environment, hoping that everyone will make full use of the institute's resources, participate in interactive exchanges, and broaden their international vision.
Zhu Sinan, a teacher from the Office of Cooperation and Development, and Yang Yan, a teacher from the Academic Office, introduced in detail the college's training system, teaching arrangements, and practical life information, laying a solid foundation for the students to smoothly adapt to the new learning and living environment.

The chairman of the institute’s student union, Chu Yunyi, shared the rich campus life of the school and the college, and warmly invited international students to actively participate, so as to better integrate into the Shanghai Jiao Tong University community and have a better exchange experience.
Subsequently, domestic students participating in the Buddy Program and international students introduced themselves one by one, shared their hobbies and interests, enhanced their understanding of each other, and promoted the establishment of friendship.

Led by domestic students, international students embarked on an exciting Campus Tour. They together checked in the campus's iconic buildings, attractions, and special snacks, feeling the profound heritage of the century-old Jiao University and the unique charm of Chinese cuisine.

This Orientation Day not only provided academic and life support for international students but also built a platform for cultural exchanges. Here, students are not only academic partners but also cultural exchange envoys. Through interaction, international students not only better understand and integrate into Chinese culture but also bring their own cultures into Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In the future, the college will continue to hold a variety of international exchange activities and write wonderful cross-cultural exchange chapters with students from around the world!

The concept of having a buddy is important to connect with some native students and understand more about the campus life. Our buddies were kind and their hospitality made us familiar with the different structures and activities in SJTU. Then, the activities programm at the end was a great way to meet other exchange students of diverse nationalities. It was a really adapted day of orientation.

The campus is so big that we didn't get the chance to visit all of it in one afternoon, but I will have the chance during my semester !
I liked a lot the activities that our Chinese buddies prepared for us, the fan making being my favorite ! It's hard to paint on them though, the Chinese black ink spreads so much when the paper is not completely dry..
I look forward to seeing everything that China has to offer !

I have always wanted to participate in the buddy program before, but unfortunately, I always missed the information. This time, I finally had the opportunity to participate! The visiting process was very interesting. Along the way, we got to know each other's school life and different learning habits. We all marveled at the huge differences in the after-school lives of Chinese and foreign students. At the same time, we also introduced some detailed "life guides" to international students, such as niche activity locations, how to book venues, the style and occupancy of each library, and they felt it was very helpful. Finally, we together participated in the international student welcome event, tried making lacquer fans, calligraphy, and Touhu (Touhu: an ancient Chinese game involving throwing arrows into a pot) games, and had the opportunity to communicate with international students from other colleges. I think the buddy program can truly make people feel the collision of Chinese and French cultures. I sincerely hope that there will be more activities in the future to enhance the understanding and language exchange learning between Chinese and foreign students.
