At the beginning of the meeting, Chen Cailian delivered a welcome speech. First of all, she expressed her warm welcome and sincere thanks to Gao Jie for coming to the meeting, and pointed out that SPEIT has always been aiming at cultivating compound excellent engineers with international vision and innovation ability. Chen Cailian emphasized that this seminar is an important opportunity to gather wisdom and seek common development, looking forward to further promoting the education and teaching work to a new level through in-depth discussions.
Subsequently, Lu Jialiang made an overall introduction to the college, focusing on the characteristics of engineer training, professional settings and the remarkable results achieved in talent training in recent years.
Four Themes: Focus on Reform and Innovation
01. Publication and Construction of Teaching Materials
Since 2019, SPEIT has published 20 volumes of teaching materials for the Sino-French Engineering Excellence Training Project, and has taken the lead in establishing the Alliance for Co-editing and Co-use of Teaching Materials, which has been popularized and applied in more than 10 Sino-French cooperative education programs in China. In order to further expand the influence of the textbooks and expand the application scenarios, the faculty members of SPEIT have actively explored and practiced: publishing bilingual Chinese and French versions of the textbooks, and cooperating with publishers to develop digitalized textbooks.
Gao Jie fully affirmed the application value and unique significance of SPEIT's series of teaching materials, and offered valuable suggestions for the declaration of teaching materials from a professional point of view, pointing out the importance of choosing the right field.
02. AI-Enabled Teaching
The College has always been committed to the innovative application of AI technology in the field of teaching and learning, and has now achieved tangible results in curriculum construction, platform deployment and tool development. SPEIT now has one municipal-level key AI course and three school-level AI+ courses. As the first college to launch a comprehensive cooperation with the Network Information Center, it has successfully deployed the SPEIT Knowledge Base and Intelligent Body Management Platform, and accessed advanced technologies such as MaxKB and DeepSeek. In addition, the Academy has independently developed three teaching and learning assistance intelligences to provide teachers and students with more accurate personalized teaching and learning support. Gao Jie fully affirmed the college's exploration and practice in AI-enabled teaching. After discussion, the participants agreed that the fundamental purpose of AI-enabled teaching is to solve the teaching and learning problems in practice, AI-assisted teaching is relatively easy, how to integrate AI into the teaching system more effectively is an issue that needs to be continuously explored, and SPEIT will give more thoughts and practices in this aspect in the future.
03. Reform of Cultivation Program
Based on the four core elements of the revised undergraduate talent cultivation program of the university, which are “fine credit, excellent structure, strong practice and AI empowerment”, and combining with the opinions of French CTI accreditation assessment experts and its own cultivation bottlenecks, SPEIT has condensed the reform objectives of the current round of reforms in the areas of the curriculum system, the teaching mode, and the protection of numerical intelligence, etc. Through an all-round research and assessment, a series of reform objectives have been identified. Gao Jie highly recognized the reform work of the college in this round of cultivation plan, discussed the details of the reform with the teachers, and shared her insights and experiences in other universities, which provided important references for the college to further deepen the reform.
04. Declaration of Teaching Achievement Award
In addition, SPEIT has officially started the preparation for the declaration of 2025 Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award, based on the teaching achievements of the college in recent years, and reported the direction of the relevant achievements. Gao Jie had an in-depth discussion with the teachers, and gave advice on the summarization and refinement of the teaching achievements.
At the end of the meeting, Xiong Zhenhua made a concluding speech. He highly affirmed the college's strong investment in education, teaching and student training, and emphasized that in the future, the college will further sort out the existing experience, summarize the results, and continue to promote teaching work to a higher level, as well as expressed heartfelt thanks to Gao Jie's visit and the participation of the attending teachers. Finally, Xiong Zhenhua and Chen Cailian jointly presented college souvenirs and published teaching materials to Gao Jie. The seminar pointed out the direction of collaborative innovation and talent cultivation for the college, injected new development momentum, and also provided strong support for the continuous promotion of high-quality education and teaching.
