This morning (April 29), General Secretary Xi Jinping came to Shanghai's “Mosu Space”, a large model innovation ecological community in Xuhui District, during his visit to Shanghai.
Hamza BOUKILI, a mathematics teacher at the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT), was the only foreign face at the event.
“I am very happy and honored to be able to take part in this event,” said Hamza BOUKILI, a mathematics teacher at SPEIT. Hamza BOUKILI and others exchanged ideas with Xi Jinping and his company, who came here to investigate the modeling innovation eco-community in Shanghai.
As a math teacher at the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, he was the only foreign face at the event: “We were discussing AI Agent, which is the theme of this ‘Mosu Space’ technology salon. There were entrepreneurs, startups, teachers and students present, and we discussed the application and development of AI intelligences from different angles.”
Hamza BOUKILI, a young Frenchman who became a foreign teacher at SJTU in 2020, and a “new Shanghainese” with a permanent residence ID five years later, also learned that General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the Institute of Science and Technology in the southern city of Nice, France, in 1985. “He is friendly and natural” Hamza BOUKILI said, adding that the exchange was very pleasant and memorable
In fact, Hamza BOUKILI is not only a teacher in Shanghai universities, but also an entrepreneur in Shanghai, Hamza BOUKILI settled in Xuhui District, where Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Mosu Space are located, and his partners are working on the field of “AI + Emission Reduction” in the hope of helping China's energy saving and carbon neutrality cause through their products. Through their products, they hope to contribute to China's energy saving, emission reduction and carbon neutrality. “I can clearly feel that everyone is very supportive of entrepreneurship, and the results are valuable to me, the college I work at, and even the whole region.” Hamza BOUKILI laughs. With such a great environment, why not do it?” laughs Hamza BOUKILI. “I also attended the district's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Summit in 2023, and at the time, I could never have imagined that I would have a company of my own the following year.”
Interestingly, during the Paris Olympics last year, Xuhui District's “Hui Lecture Theater”, which has been well-received by the public since its inception in 2016, invited him as a guest to talk about the “Sino-French relationship” in his eyes. At the time of the invitation, Hamza BOUKILI was preparing to fly from Shanghai to Paris to take care of his work and life appointments. “I love the feeling of sharing with others, so I agreed without hesitation ......” In order to catch up with the podium activities on time, he took some time to prepare the content of the exchange, while booking a return ticket to Shanghai, and even without jet lag, he stood on the podium. He was able to get to the podium without even getting over his jet lag. The audience was also particularly enthusiastic, he said, “making me feel connected to the place where I live, to this community, to other people around me, and that's very cozy ......”
“Looking at Shanghai today, it has become a world leader in science and technology innovation over the years.” Straddling China and France, Hamza BOUKILI is full of ambitions and hopes for the future of himself and his city. The SPEIT is jointly established by SJTU and four top French engineering schools (Ecole Polytechnique, ENSTA, Ecole Supérieure des Télécommunications de Paris, Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris), with 40% of full-time faculty members of French nationality. Relying on the advantageous engineering disciplines of SJTU and the profound mathematics and science foundation of France, the program adopts the dual-wheel-drive cultivation model of “Mathematics + Artificial Intelligence”, focuses on the three major cutting-edge engineering fields of Information Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Energy and Power Engineering, and is geared towards the future development of science and technology to cultivate a new generation of outstanding engineers with global competence, innovation and leadership. He hoped to rely on the platform of Jiao Tong University to continue to deepen the international cooperation between Chinese and foreign universities and enterprises, and to contribute to scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation.
