To deeply implement the strategy of accelerating the construction of an international faculty team at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, from June 10th to 11th, 2025, Professor Chen Cailian, Chinese Dean of SPEIT, Professor Zhong Shengyi, Vice Dean, and Sun Chenye, Dean's Assistant, visited Hong Kong and successfully held five young scholars exchange meetings at City University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The University of Hong Kong, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The events attracted more than 100 outstanding doctoral students and young scholars.

Professor Chen Cailian introduced Shanghai Jiao Tong University, stating that relying on the locational and geographical advantages of Shanghai as an international metropolis, SJTU empowers talent development by adhering to the philosophy of "born for strength, thriving through reform, and prospering due to talent." It continuously optimizes the talent introduction mechanism, providing broad development space for outstanding young scholars at home and abroad.

Professor Zhong Shengyi focused on introducing the development history and talent needs of SPEIT. As a model of SJTU's international education, the institute is accelerating the construction of a tenure system and particularly expects to introduce outstanding young scholars from Hong Kong universities in the fields of information engineering, mechanical engineering, energy and power engineering, and cutting-edge interdisciplinary disciplines.

The atmosphere at the event was enthusiastic. Participating scholars had in-depth exchanges with institute representatives on research directions, career planning, and support conditions. Many young scholars said that through face-to-face communication, they not only gained a comprehensive understanding of SJTU's development strategy and disciplinary layout but also had a clearer understanding of their personal career planning.

This exchange meeting was also supported by the five Hong Kong universities. SPEIT will continue to carry out overseas talent introduction work, providing long-term channels and platforms for young scholars.
