On November 12, a delegation from Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), led by Estelle IACONA, President of ENSTA, visited SPEIT。 The delegation was received by Xiong Zhenhua, Secretary of the Institute; Chen Cailian, Chinese Dean and Deputy Secretary; Zied MOUMNI, French Dean; Vice Deans Lu Jialiang and Zhong Shengyi; Dean’s Assistant Sun Chenye; and Qi Guifang, Director of the Office of Cooperation and Development, among others, and a discussion meeting was held.

Chen Cailian extended a warm welcome to the delegation. This visit marked President Estelle IACONA’s first visit to SPEIT since assuming office. Chen Cailian provided a systematic introduction to the Institute’s latest developments in various aspects and expressed sincere gratitude for the long-standing support from the French partner institutions. She particularly emphasized that in recent years, the Institute has continuously strengthened the recruitment and development of high-level faculty, achieving breakthroughs in faculty team building. The scale and quality of domestic admissions have steadily improved, and each year more than 200 international students are attracted to the Institute for exchange.
During the meeting, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on expanding undergraduate enrollment. Chen Cailian pointed out that the number of candidates for China’s National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) will continue to increase in the coming years, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as a top university in China, bears the important mission of expanding the supply of high-quality educational resources. Paris Elite Institute of Technology will actively respond to the strategic deployment of the Ministry of Education and the University by strengthening faculty allocation and optimizing teaching resources, steadily advancing the expansion of enrollment size, and further enhancing the influence of the Institute and the Sino-French engineering education model both domestically and internationally.
Estelle IACONA fully agreed with this view. She noted that the steady expansion of the Institute’s scale will help further increase the influence of French engineering education in China. The French side attaches great importance to and firmly supports the development of the Institute and will continue to provide resources and assistance in faculty, teaching, and research to promote the Institute’s progress toward a higher level.

In the afternoon, Xiong Zhenhua accompanied the delegation to visit the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory under his leadership. He systematically presented the laboratory’s latest achievements in industrial robot hand-eye coordination, autonomous perception, and intelligent control, and introduced breakthroughs made by the team in key technologies. Members of the delegation showed strong interest in the frontier technologies of intelligent robotics, and engaged in in-depth discussions with Xiong Zhenhua on technical details, potential applications, and cooperation directions. They expressed that they would actively promote practical cooperation between China and France in intelligent robotics and other fields in the future.
This visit further deepened mutual trust and communication between the two sides in the fields of engineering education and scientific and technological innovation, and laid a solid foundation for the Institute to continue deepening cooperation and expanding development in the future.
