On November 26, 2025, during the Third “Ma Thèse en 3 Minutes Chrono” Competition held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Joan VALADOU, Consul General of France in Shanghai; Rachid MALTI, Science and Technology Consul; and Antoine KOUCHNER, Vice President of Paris Cité University, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Zhang Zhaoguo, Vice President of SJTU, met with the delegation. Also present were Zied Moumni, Dean of SPEIT, Zhong Shengyi, Vice Dean of SPEIT, and Li Shushu, Vice Secretary of the CPCC of the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute.

Zhang Zhaoguo extended a warm welcome to the delegation and highlighted the long-standing and solid cooperative foundation between SJTU and French institutions. He noted that the university has established SPEIT in collaboration with four French engineering schools, achieving accreditation from both the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI) and the European Accredited Engineering Programmes (EUR-ACE) for three consecutive terms. Additionally, SJTU has implemented a joint MD training program with University of Strasbourg, yielding fruitful outcomes. He further mentioned that over 80 French students are currently enrolled at the university. He expressed hope that the joint hosting of this competition and the signing of a cooperation agreement with Paris Cité University would serve as opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas such as dual-degree programs, research platform development, joint laboratories, and cultural exchanges. He also requested continued support from the French Embassy in China and the Consulate General in Shanghai.

Joan VALADOU delivered his speech in fluent Chinese, expressing gratitude to SJTU and the Consulate General of France in Shanghai for jointly organizing this year's MT3C competition. He highlighted the increasingly close cultural, educational, and technological cooperation between China and France, noting that frequent student exchanges serve as a vital bridge for future communication between the two nations. He highly commended SJTU's pivotal role in advancing Sino-French educational collaboration, specifically highlighting SPEIT—one of China's most successful joint educational institutions—which saw over 80 students exchange to France this year. He also affirmed the significance of other Sino-French cooperative programs such as Kedge MBA and China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). He expressed anticipation for further collaboration with SJTU in the future.
At the meeting, SJTU and Paris Cité University officially signed a cooperation framework agreement, laying a new foundation for in-depth collaboration across multiple fields.

Antoine KOUCHNER reflected on the collaborative vision established during their initial meeting last year. He expressed sincere gratitude to SPEIT for its significant coordination efforts, which facilitated the swift signing and implementation of this cooperation framework agreement, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration. In the future, Paris Cité University will further coordinate with SPEIT to promote student exchanges and scientific research collaboration. He also expressed his desire to expand cooperation with SJTU in fields such as medicine and science. As a representative of the supporting organization for the MT3C Competition, he also spoke highly of the organization of this competition and looked forward to observing the subsequent sessions.
