SPEIT and the Office of International Affairs Visit France to Deepen Exchanges

12.24/2025 8

From December 8 to 12, SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) jointly organized a delegation to visit France for international cooperation and exchange. The delegation included Zied MOUMNI, French Dean of SPEIT, Ma Wei, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, as well as relevant functional personnel from the office and the institute.

With the core goal of "deepening existing cooperation and exploring new paths," the delegation conducted in-depth docking with multiple top French institutions. It not only consolidated the existing strategic partnerships between the two parties but also reached initial consensus on the layout of innovative cooperation projects, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent implementation of cooperation. This fully reflects the solid measures taken by the university and the institute to promote international development.

Deepen Partnerships and Consolidate the Core Position of International Cooperation

The delegation focused on revisiting the institute’s strategic partner institutions for cooperative education, including École Polytechnique, École Nationale Supérieure des Technologies Avancées (ENSTA), Télécom Paris, and Mines Paris. Adhering to the principle of "precise docking and efficient implementation," it promoted the accelerated implementation of existing cooperation agreements and optimized the normalized communication and collaboration mechanism.

In addition, the delegation held special work docking with Polytech Paris-Saclay. Building on the successful implementation of student exchange programs over the years, the two parties focused on the university-level dual-degree program agreement proposed by the Polytech Paris-Saclay delegation during their previous visit to SJTU. They conducted in-depth discussions on subsequent specific implementation matters such as curriculum alignment, selection processes, and schedules, and reached important consensus.

The delegation also conducted an on-site visit to the university’s cutting-edge materials laboratory, laying a solid foundation for future collaborative scientific research and joint talent training between the two parties. During the exchange, Ma Wei stated: "In-depth cooperation with top institutions is an important support for talent training and scientific research innovation. We look forward to working with all parties to promote the benefits of cooperation to teachers and students."

At École des Ponts et des Chaussées, the delegation focused on visiting the university’s innovation laboratory with the core concept of "daring to think and act, and achieving quickly," and conducted a special investigation on its university-enterprise collaborative education model that deeply integrates industrial resources. On the basis of existing student exchange cooperation, this visit accumulated valuable practical insights and feasibility references for the two parties to expand into deeper and broader cooperation in scientific research and corporate internship projects in the future.

Focus on Future Cooperation and Expand New Paths for International Cooperation

While consolidating the existing cooperation foundation, the delegation focused on advancing the implementation of new international cooperation. In response to the needs of the institute’s newly established "Descartes Class" program, it conducted special docking with Lycée Louis-le-Grand and Lycée Henri IV, successfully finalizing the core details of sending Descartes Class students to France for short-term immersive learning for the first time next year. This cooperative short-term immersive learning program for students is an additional cooperation content following the previous cooperation in sending SPEIT mathematics and physics teachers to the two schools for curriculum further study, laying the foundation for the two parties to expand broader and in-depth cooperation in the future.

In addition, the delegation also established initial contacts with institutions such as Albert School, EIVP, and SupBioTech, laying the foundation for expanding the international cooperation landscape and building a diversified cooperation ecosystem, and further broadening the international development paths of the university and the institute.

This visit is a pragmatic practice of the joint delegation from the institute and the Office of International Affairs to promote the university’s internationalization strategy. It not only deepened cooperation with top French institutions but also expanded cooperation areas and enriched project forms. In the future, the two parties will take this visit as an opportunity to jointly promote the implementation of projects with cooperative institutions, continuously improve the talent training and scientific research collaboration mechanisms, and lay a solid foundation for SJTU to build a high-level international engineering talent training platform.
