Annual Summary of Scientific Innovation, Culture and Sports at SPEIT

Preface /

In 2025, students of the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology lived up to their youth and forged ahead with determination, achieving outstanding results on both the scientific innovation front and the cultural and sports arenas. They demonstrated exceptional brilliance in intellectually competitive innovation contests and shone brightly on vibrant cultural and athletic stages, winning numerous prestigious awards at national and international levels.

From claiming the gold award at the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition to standing out in a wide range of cultural and sports competitions, SPEIT students have written an inspiring chapter of youth with their outstanding strength. Their achievements vividly embody the Institute’s educational philosophy of “solid foundations, diversified development, global vision, and industry elites,” and comprehensively showcase the remarkable qualities of outstanding engineers in the new era.

 

Scientific Innovation Arena

 

Hardcore Strength Shining on the Global Stage

In top-tier international and national scientific innovation competitions, SPEIT students have dared to break new ground and take the lead, demonstrating strong innovative capabilities and international competitiveness.

The “HyMind Power” team, led and supervised by Associate Professor Cheng Junfang, won the National Gold Award in the International Track of the 2025 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition. The team, jointly formed by the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology and Imperial College London, fully demonstrated strong technical competence and outstanding cross-national collaboration.

The “Chijing Yunqiao” team won the Gold Award of the Shanghai Division in the “Youth Dream-Building Journey” track of the 2025 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition. Ten SPEIT students—Tian Yuan, Yu Huiru, Bai Yunlin, Wang Qixuan, Chen Peining, Yang Jionglin, Cao Zichen, Xu Yuan, Ni Ke, and Mao Ruijie—played key roles in the team, interpreting youth responsibility through innovative solutions.

In the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) for American college students, SPEIT-led or participating teams achieved outstanding success, winning more than 20 awards in total, including 2 Finalist Awards (F Award), 3 Meritorious Winner Awards (M Award), and 14 Honorable Mentions.

At the national finals of the RoboMaster 2025 Super Confrontation Competition, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Yunhan Jiaolong Team once again claimed the national championship. Eight SPEIT students—Yang Bowen, Guan Huai, Jiang Baoxin, Ao Jingke, Chen Jingyi, Yang Lehan, Qiao Sining, and Cao Lechen—played key roles in the team, demonstrating outstanding professional skills and efficient teamwork, and making significant contributions to the victory.

During the 2024–2025 VEX Robotics season, SPEIT students contributed to multiple world-class honors for SJTU’s VEX teams. Teams including Li Congxu, Yu Jiangjun, and Hua Qiuji won the runner-up prize at the VEX Robotics World Championship. Teams including Hua Qiuji and Wan Xiaoru won the First Prize and the Championship in the confrontation event of the China University Intelligent Robotics Competition.

At the 2025 China Robot Competition and RoboCup China Open, student Zhang Muye, as team leader, led Digital Shanhai Team 1 to win the national championship (First Prize) in the humanoid robot relay event, marking Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s first national championship for a large-scale humanoid robot. Student Chen Xinyi helped the team win the national third place (First Prize) in the table tennis robot event. Student Zhou Yue’s team won the national third prize in the humanoid robot relay event.

Student Qin Yiwei won the Gold Award at the Nanjing Regional Contest and the Gold Award at the Shanghai Regional Contest of the ACM-ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest.

 

Cultural and Sports Stage

 

Diverse Talents Shining in Youthful Arenas

From academic dedication to athletic competition, SPEIT students have strived vigorously in cultural and sports events, achieving multiple important results at municipal level and above. Their outstanding performances in diversified development demonstrate the vitality of youth in the new era.

In the 2025–2026 Shanghai University Students Volleyball League, student Lei Xuanwu and her teammates fought through intense rounds of competition and successfully helped the team win the championship in the Women’s Group A.

At the 2025–2026 Shanghai University Students Badminton Championship, student Li Siyuan won the Group A men’s team championship and the men’s doubles championship, while student Zhang Tianyi won the Group A men’s team championship and the mixed doubles championship.

Student Shen Ziye won the team championship and placed third individually in the Go event of the 10th Shanghai Student Mind Sports Games. Student Cheng Hanfeng won the team championship and placed sixth individually in the Go competition (university group) of the 2025 Shanghai Student Sunshine Sports League.

 

 

The honors of 2025 have become part of history, while the journey of 2026 is beginning anew. SPEIT students will continue to uphold the spirit of innovation and perseverance, constantly surpassing themselves on the stages of scientific innovation as well as cultural and sports activities, and jointly creating more new chapters worthy of the times.
