Interview Content

Studying in France Combining Medical Interests and Language Advantages

Firstly, Dr. Liu briefly described his academic journey. From the high school affiliated with Shanghai International Studies University to the French class at Shanghai Second Medical University, Dr. Liu's academic path has been marked by his strong interest in medicine and the utilization of his language skills.

Next, Dr. Liu detailed his experiences studying, working, and living in France. In 1995, he was hired by Cochin Hospital in Paris as a foreign resident physician, participating in a systematic training program in artificial joint surgery. This experience allowed him to gain a deep understanding and proficient mastery of surgical techniques. After returning to China, he applied the knowledge and skills he learned in France to his work, earning the appreciation and trust of the head of the Orthopedics Department at Cochin Hospital, and began performing independent hip replacement surgeries in 1997.

Multicultural Exchange and Interdisciplinary Cooperation

In the following interview, Director Liu discussed how students can better integrate into foreign cultural environments when studying abroad. He believes that language is a tool to bring people closer, creating a sense of familiarity and deeper communication. He emphasized that students should actively communicate with locals while studying abroad, especially discussing professional topics to discover and understand the characteristics and strengths of foreign academic circles.

Regarding interdisciplinary cooperation, Director Liu stressed the importance of communication and collaboration between different disciplines. He believes that interdisciplinary cooperation can bring different ways of thinking and research methods, which helps to more comprehensively understand and solve complex problems. Therefore, students should actively seek common ground to collaborate on problem-solving, not limiting themselves to their familiar academic fields.

Director Liu Zhihong's sharing with us not only highlights his emphasis on international medical exchange and cooperation but also demonstrates his active role in promoting Sino-French medical education and exchange. His experiences and insights provide valuable references for promoting cooperation and development in the Sino-French medical field.
