On December 7, 2024, the awards ceremony for the 2024 Higher Education Press Cup National College Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition was held in Beijing. Chen Jingyi, a 2023 undergraduate from the SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology, along with Chen Nuoyan from the School of Electronics and Information, and You Tianming from the School of Mathematics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, formed a team that won the "Beitai Tianyuan Mathematical Modeling Star" award in the undergraduate group under the guidance of Teacher Gao Xiaofeng. This award, established by the competition organizing committee in 2022, is a named award with only one team in the undergraduate group receiving this honor each year, making it the second-highest honor after the "Higher Education Press Cup."

The event was hosted by the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, organized by the National College Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition Organizing Committee and Beijing Normal University, and co-organized by the Beijing College Students' Mathematical Modeling and Computer Application Competition Organizing Committee. Guests attending the awards ceremony included Yuan Yaxiang, the director of the National College Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition Organizing Committee and vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, Zhang Pingwen, the president of Wuhan University and chairman of the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Academicians Yan Jia'an and Zheng Zhiming from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Wang Ming, the vice president of Beijing Normal University.
This competition attracted nearly 200,000 college students and 65,761 teams from universities both domestically and internationally. The competition topics are based on real-world application scenarios, covering different branches of mathematics and emphasizing interdisciplinary knowledge integration and team collaboration. As one of the first competitions to be included in the "University Competition Ranking List," the National College Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition has continuously expanded in scale and increased in influence since its inception in 1992, providing students with an excellent platform to challenge real-world problems.
