Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), as one of the higher education institutions which enjoy a long history and a world-renowned reputation in China, is a key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People's Republic of China and co-constructed by MOE and Shanghai Municipal Government. The SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) brings together the strengths of leading French Grandes Ecoles (Institut Polytechnique de Paris, Université de Paris Sciences et Lettres )and of Shanghai Jiao Tong University to develop Sino-French research and innovation collaboration and to educate high-potential Chinese and international students to become industrial leaders and innovators. The engineering cycle of SPEIT combines common core courses, elective scientific and technical courses in 3 different majors (Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering and Information Engineering) which help interdisciplinary integration studies in direction of digital nuclear power, intelligent manufacturing, new energy, digital twin etc.

Shanghai Jiaotong expand its campus in Minhang district in 2005. Shanghai Jiaotong university offer to the faculty better work and experimental space, renovated talents’ apartments etc. With a series of reforms, Shanghai Jiaotong university achieved leapfrog developments and laid a solid foundation to become a world top class university. Founded in 2012, SJTU Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) is a joint institute between SJTU and four top French engineering schools (Ecole Polytechnique, TELECOM Paris,ENSTA Paris, MINES Paris). Over the past 12 years, SPEIT has been closely cooperating and exchanging with the French partner schools in teaching, scientific research, student exchanges and industrial incubation.

SPEIT has established three majors: Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, and Information Engineering, leveraging the strong mathematical and scientific foundation of French engineering education to conduct interdisciplinary innovative research.

SPEIT has a total of 73 faculty members, including 40% foreign teachers. There are over 600 students currently enrolled in undergraduate and master's programs, with all master's students advancing directly from the SPEIT's undergraduate program. The year 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France.
