Laurent Catoire is a distinguished researcher in combustion chemistry and thermochemistry, specializing in monomethylhydrazine (MMH), aluminum, ionic liquids, biofuels, and energetic materials. His work has significantly advanced understanding of decomposition and oxidation mechanisms, particularly in space propulsion. Key contributions include developing kinetic models for MMH combustion with nitrogen tetroxide (NTO) and aluminum combustion in launch vehicles like Ariane 5 and 6. He has collaborated with major industry players, supervised numerous PhDs, and published extensively.Since 1990, Catoire has held academic roles, becoming a full professor in 2008. He directs the UCP chemical engineering lab at ENSTA, IP Paris, and has held leadership positions, including on the ENSTA Board of Directors and IP Paris Academic Council. In 2013, he co-proposed the first Energy course syllabus for SPEIT, showcasing his commitment to education and research in energy and propulsion.
